Welfare Department

THE WELFARE DEPARTMENT

The Welfare Department provides various services to the citizens of the Town of Curepipe especially in the field of education, socio-cultural, sports and leisure/ recreational.

The Welfare Department is also responsible for the running of gymnasiums, social halls, kindergarten, football grounds, children playgrounds and mini soccer pitches.

The department also organizes religious celebrations, exhibitions, and social gatherings usually in collaboration with registered socio – cultural organizations/associations/ sports federations, and different Ministries and NGOs.

Education

The Municipal Council operates a kindergarten free of charge for pupils aged three to five years old residing within the Township.

Criteria for admission:

  • • The child should be three years old and should be a resident of Curepipe
  • • The Municipal kindergarten is free of charge.
  • • Admission is carried out throughout the year.

Fees for Use of Municipal Infrastructures

  1. Rental of Municipal Multi-Purpose Complexes
    – Rs 150/hr/per court – For residents of Curepipe
    Proof of address and ID Card to be produced for registration purposes
    Booking of Badminton courts are effected on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
