PROCEDURES FOR:
1. REQUEST FOR BURIAL IN A GRAVE/INHUMATION IN A VAULT
A Burial (Re-opening) fee or Vault fee of Rs100 must be paid for any burial in a grave or inhumation in a vault, already purchased by a person registered as per cemetery records.
Very Important: A grave is re-opened for burial after a lapse of 5 years from previous burial.
In case of the purchase of a new grave if available, an additional payment of Rs600 is required as cemetery regulations.
Please note that purchase of new grave is restricted to citizens of Curepipe only as per council decision.
In both cases the following original documents will have to be produced prior to burial:
(a) Burial permit issued by the Curepipe Civil Status Office.
Mention of EARLY BURIAL recommended by a registered Medical Practitioner is compulsory ONLY if burial is to be done within 24hrs of time of death.
(b) National Identity Card of applicant in case of purchase of a new grave.
(c) In case of burial in an existing grave, municipal receipt for having purchased the particular grave with its reference, clearly showing the actual owner as registered in cemetery records must be produced by the latter or any other genuinely authorised person with their National Identity Cards.
2. REQUEST FOR INSTALLTION OF A TOMB (ENCLOSURE)
An access fee of Rs250 must be paid prior to installation of an enclosure after having produced the following original documents
(a) Municipal receipt showing clearly the grave reference and the registered owner as per cemetery records must be produced by the latter or any other genuinely authorised person.
(b) National Identity Card of the relevant person.
3. REQUEST FOR LATE NIGHT BURIAL
Late night burial request will be processed prior to burial after having produced the original documents as mentioned above at 1. REQUEST FOR BURIAL.

4. REQUEST FOR CREMATION IN GAS INCINERATOR (CREMATORIUM)
A cremation fee of Rs1000 must be paid prior to cremation after having produced the following original documents:
(a) Cremation permit issued by a Health Office, Ministry of Health.
(b) National Identity Cards of applicant and one witness.
5. REQUEST FOR CREMATION ON WOOD PYRE AT THE FOLLOWING PLACES:
BIGARA
TROU AUX CERFS
TOUT COURT
A cremation fee of Rs100 must be paid prior to cremation after having produced the following original documents:
(a) Cremation permit issued by a Health Office, Ministry of Health.
(b) National Identity Card of the applicant
6. The existing cemetery is being extended for creation of new graves and spaces for construction of vaults.
