LAND USE & PLANNING DEPARTMENT
Background
The Municipal Council of Curepipe has the statutory power to carry out development control within its administrative boundary in accordance with the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act 1954, the Planning & development ACT 2004 and the Local Government Act 2011.
The Land Use & Planning Department of this Council deals with the processing of applications for Building and Land Use Permit, whilst taking into account the requirements of the Outline Scheme, the Planning Policy Guidance and the individual merits of each development proposals for the issuing of permits, in order to control development in the public interest.
The department is also responsible for the management of the cadastral system within the township.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CADASTRE SECTION
1) Keep and update the entire cadastre of the town
2) Assessment of new construction, addition or extension within the Township regarding future taxation.
3) Register all changes in ownership within the township of Curepipe.
4) Ensure that all immovable properties are duly registered in connection with excision and division of land.
5) Advise member of the public on rating and numbering purposes, and adjoining neighbour and zoning of land.
6) To act as a facilitator between member of the public and valuation office on rating issues.
